Corrections to a Release Agreement

If you discover errors contained in the settlement and release agreement you receive from the insurance company after negotiating a settlement for your personal injury claim, you may send a letter requesting corrections be made. A list of potential errors is included below. The settlement and release agreement should accurately and completely reflect the agreement that was reached between you and the at-fault party’s insurance company.

The following template should serve as an example of a letter that could be used to request corrections to a settlement and release agreement:

I respectfully request the settlement and release agreement be amended to accurately reflect our agreement of the settlement. I wish to honor our agreement; however, I will need the errors referenced above corrected before I am able to move forward. Please correct the errors and return it to my attention as soon possible. The insurance adjuster should agree to amend the settlement and release agreement to properly reflect the terms and facts of your settled claim.
